Careers Central Texas

The last five percent. Done right.

We are looking for one Field Craftsman to take care of homeowners after the build, across Austin, San Antonio, and the Texas Hill Country.

RoleField Craftsman
WhereAustin, San Antonio & the Hill Country
TypeField-based, W-2
Pay$25.50/hr salaried, overtime at $38.25

Why This Is Here

Somebody has to own the finish.

We build backyard pickleball and multi-use courts, pools, outdoor kitchens, decks, pergolas, and whole-home renovations across Central Texas. We are based in Wimberley and rated 5.0 on Google, and we have more signed work than we have people.

Growth is hard on the finish. The crew moves to the next build and the punch list, the warranty call, and the small job that came in on its own all need somebody whose actual job they are. That is this role, and we are hiring it on purpose rather than handing the work to whoever happens to be free.

The Honest Version

Every build has a last five percent.

The trim that needs one more pass, the touch-up after the furniture moves in, the warranty call six months later. Most companies treat that work as an afterthought and hand it to whoever is free. We do not. It is the part the homeowner looks at every day, and it is the reason they recommend us or do not.

This role exists because that work deserves somebody who is actually good at it.

What You Would Actually Do

Punch list and warranty work. Homeowner touch-ups. Small one-day jobs that need doing properly rather than quickly. Paint, trim, maintenance, and minor repairs. Running material when a job needs it. Photo documentation in CompanyCam as you go. Moving job to job across the week as the work calls for it.

You are the person a homeowner sees after the crew has gone.

That is a real responsibility and it is most of why this job matters.

What We Bring

Dominic Watler, our founder, is your direct line. He is a builder, not a manager checking your hours, and he has the field knowledge to help you solve the thing at seven in the morning.

Steady work. You are not waiting on a job to get released or hoping next month is busy. We have more signed work than we have people.

Systems built for the field. We run CompanyCam and JobTread, and you will mostly live in CompanyCam.

A real path. This is where our project managers come from. Somebody who knows how every trade actually goes together, and who has stood in front of a homeowner and made something right, is worth far more running a job than somebody who learned it from a schedule.

The Pay

$25.50 an hour

Paid as a salary Overtime at $38.25 over forty

$25.50 an hour, paid as a salary, with overtime at $38.25 for anything over forty in a week. A normal week with a few hours of overtime in it puts this role around $65,000 a year, and the busy stretches pay better than that.

We do not pretend the hours are always forty. Punch list and warranty work moves with the build schedule, and when it runs long you get paid for every hour of it at time and a half. That is not a bonus, it is just how the math works and we are not going to be cute about it.

A fuel card comes with it, so windshield time is on us.

No health insurance yet. We are still a young company and we would rather say that up front than have you find out later. What is here is steady pay, work that does not run out, and a real path. This is where our project managers come from.

The rate moves as you prove out.

Who We Are Looking For

Real hands

You have built, fixed, and finished enough that you can walk into a room and see what is wrong with it.

Broad trade exposure rather than one specialty

You do not have to be a master carpenter. You do need to be capable across paint, trim, basic plumbing and electrical, drywall, and the general run of what a finished house needs.

Pride in the last five percent

The part nobody else wants to chase is the part this job is built around.

Good with homeowners

You will be in occupied houses talking to the people who live there. Clean work, clear communication, and respect for somebody's home.

Comfortable with a phone

Photo documentation and digital schedules. You do not need to be technical. You do need to be willing.

The basics

Valid driver license, reliable truck or vehicle, and your own hand tools.

Watler & Co LLC dba Space Cowboy is an equal opportunity company. We evaluate every applicant on their work and their character.
